A game made for Ludum Dare 55 - won #1 Mood, #1 Audio, #1 Theme, #2 Overall from 2200 entries

A murder case has gone cold, and the NRPD has asked you to help them solve it, on account of your abilities as a psychic medium.

Channel the dead, confront them with the truth, help them to unlock their memories, and solve the murder.

Controls

Game entirely uses the mouse. Click the Detective/Table symbols when you aren't in the middle of a conversation to go between the sections of the room

Click the Ouija board to start a seance. Input the name of a spirit, then click Enter. Light the candles, and summon the spirit

To exit a conversation with a ghost, click Goodbye

The buttons at the top left and right of your board allow you to step back and forward through the conversation, and the Elaborate button lets you inquire further about the last phrase. Sometimes they'll reveal extra information

If you think you have an answer to their riddles, you can type it out in the Ouija board, or click it in your notebook later. Make sure to confront them at the right time, if they complain you aren't listening - you used the right evidence at the wrong time

Make sure you read all the way through each conversation. If you're stuck, make sure you asked both the Detective and Dylan about everything.

my God, I have no words for this, one of the best game I have layed this year, tnanks for making such masterpiece.

What a cool game!! Definitely did not expect the ending.

(+1)

now THAT was an uxpected ending. i had a lot of fun playing this and figuring things out!

This game was super fun! I was stumped for a minute here and there but honestly it was a fantastic challenge!!!

aAAA I luvette!! The 4 medals in Ludum Dare are well deserved yuh. I'm still confused with the ending but I have an interpretation...

(Spoilers)

I think we are the killer (the protag) it makes sense because Dylan's body was in the chapel where we do our seances. Idk why Detective Tether said he was the killer but it's probably an attempt to confuse us or smth like what Mindy did to Amber in Scream 5.

I'm assuming Tether will be the vessel because in the ending he was shown as a spirit before Baphomet appears... at first I thought the spirit was the protag but Tether's face structure and clothing matched with the spirit so yuh.

Additionally, Aria said that she thinks Dylan probably misses her, I thought they knew he was dead but I guess not because even Tether didn't know about Dylan being dead when he was asked. The body wasn't discovered yet as Dylan said, he is still under the chapel. Only the bang was reported but no bodies were found. Meaning only we knew that Dylan was dead and we didn't tell anybody else bcuz we're the one who killed him ToT I feel bad for Aria :(

Also, #JusticeForTamsin the girl was just jogging :(
Lesson learned: Don't jog at night

This was an interesting detective and psychic game! You play as the psychic and drive the narrative along if you figure out what is next to ask. Would be interesting to do a chapter now of the demon and the detective, where, maybe find out about more murders? Or what the demon is about? Overall, pretty cool! Good voices! I would have been Aria, lol.

One of the better games I've played this year. I love the voice acting, the visuals are great, and it is a very unique concept for a game. I really enjoyed being able to basically Ace Attorney it - find clues to break dialogue loops and proceed to the next section. I would love to see more games like this, that take that gameplay style and expand out the narrative more in the horror realm. It really lets me feel like my brain is working to figure out what's going on and I get such a rush of dopamine when I figure it out!

Wait a minute were we the vessel or were we the murderer as one of the spirits calls you the same height as the murdere

Really cool!

(+2)

could you put in spanish the game looks great and will be more enjoyable c:

unfortunately, the game was made in 72 hours for a game jam for fun, we have no plans to localise it because it would take a great deal of work, voice acting, casting, cost of translation all for a free game. maybe one day if we do a future larger sequel on console but for this scope it's not possible

oOP sequel yes please

(+3)

I really enjoyed this! Beautiful art style, amazing story telling, and a satisfying ending <3

Hello, I would like to know if there is any possibility of having subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese? I'm a gamer content creator and I'd like to play your game. Thank you for your attention.

We are considering making a full version of the game. My previous game Super Rude Bear Resurrection supports Brazilian Portuguese so it's possible this would too, but not in this jam version, it would take a complete rewrite of the game code (and you'd miss out on the voice acting too!)

Thanks for answering

This looks SO cool! Are there any plans for a mac version?

It's unlikely any time soon as I am McMegaBusy all the time and I don't own a macbook to test on either. Maybe a full version might support it

(+3)

Simply amazing! A beautiful game with a great story. Loved it!!

(+2)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it <3

(+3)

Beautiful and enjoyable!

I do wish that manually entering words could trigger correct responses (don't wanna give any spoilers, but I'd correctly surmised one of the trigger words and of course it didn't activate until it was revealed on the notepad), but I suppose that's a pretty big ask for this type of format.

Still, the art style is gorgeous, the story is compelling, and the characters are interesting.

Highly recommend!

(+2)

it isn't a big ask actually haha, the entered word checks the wordlist, I added an extra check specifically to make sure you have the word available first. bit e.g  if you guessed Candle you could skip half the game and be completely oblivious to the story. Truck as well if you guessed early you would not be aware what happened to Dylan (and Tamsin wouldn't reach her final dialogue since you'd miss a vital clue). Just a design choice to make sure people get all of the story haha, I know the feeling - in Phoenix Wright I often guessed the solution early but the evidence was not presentable yet

(+2)

You're right - that's totally fair!  It would have caused me to miss other things and so I'm glad I didn't.  ^_^

(+3)(-1)

Really enjoyed this game!!! I will say I was caught off guard.

(+3)(-1)

Congrats on the LD55 domination! And they shall know us by the trail of the entertained.

(+2)(-1)

I loved this! The ending was foreshadowed yet unexpected, the art and voice acting was amazing!

(+4)(-1)

This was so great! I really loved the detective aspect and how you talked with the spirits. I got spooked at the end, haha! I would love to play a whole series of this with multiple cases!

(+2)(-1)

Great visual novel! The twist caught me off guard, great job!
